Handmade in Yoakum, Texas — Since 1946

Ray Vandiver, 74, third generation. His grandfather opened the shop with tack and work belts for the ranches. His father ran it. Ray has cut every strap since 1979 — and there is no fourth generation.

“My father handed this shop to me. There is nobody for me to hand it to.”

What Arrives

🧵
The Strap

Cut and burnished by hand. No punched holes.

🦁
The Buckle

Solid cast relief in antique brass. Your choice of three.

📏
Fit Card

One-minute guide to trimming it to your size.

🗝
Keyring

Leather keyring included with the Eagle.

The Three That Never Stopped Selling

Dragon

Solid plate, antique brass, relief cut deep enough to hold a shadow. Brown strap with crocodile embossing.

Eagle

Open frame, wings spread across the full width. Cognac strap with scrollwork. Leather keyring included.

Tiger

Open frame, mid-stride. Dark burgundy strap, damask embossing, stitched edge. The one Ray has never had returned.

What Makes It Different

The Quarter-Inch Ladder

A fine toothed track inside the strap locks every quarter inch. Four settings per inch instead of one. Never between two holes again.

🛠
The One-Pull Cut

Every strap is drawn in a single uninterrupted pass. Stop halfway and the edge carries a shadow forever. Ray does not stop.

The Burnished Edge

The edge is closed with friction and heat, not sealed with paint. Painted edges flake. A burnished edge only darkens with age.

🛡
No Weak Point

Nothing is punched out of the strap, so there is no thin ring of leather to stretch, oval out and split. That is where belts fail.

The Cut-to-You Strap

Trim it to length at the kitchen table in about a minute, then refit the buckle. The belt is sized to you, not the other way round.

👍
One Thumb, One Second

Push the lever and it releases. No prong to line up, no hole to find, nothing scratching the leather every time it comes off.

An Outside Opinion

“When something comes across my table I look at two things first: the edge and the hardware. A burnished edge tells me somebody spent time on the part the customer will never mention. And a strap without punched holes removes the single most common point of failure I see in worn belts. That is not a styling decision. That is a construction decision.”

What You Are Actually Buying

  • Cut by one pair of hands. Every strap that has left this shop since 1979 was cut by Ray himself.
  • No punched holes. The one place a belt normally tears simply does not exist on this one.
  • Quarter-inch adjustment. Four settings per inch, so it sits where you want it rather than close to it.
  • Burnished, not painted. The edge darkens with wear instead of flaking off in pieces.
  • Eighty years, ending. When the shelf is empty there will be no second run.
30 Days, No Questions

Wear it, adjust it, live with it for a month. If it is not right, send it back for a full refund. One email is enough — no form, no reason required.

Please note: the strap arrives long on purpose. Trim it to your size with household scissors, then click the buckle back on — about a minute at the kitchen table. Because every strap is cut and finished by hand, small variations in grain, embossing depth and edge color are normal. They are not flaws. They are the reason it looks like this.
