Nora's Complete Ocean Collection — All Eight Glasses
All eight designs. One for each sea animal Nora and her husband Cal saw together over forty-nine years on the water.
Blue Ringed Octopus, Shark, Whale, Seahorse, Sea Turtle, Jellyfish, Dolphin and Crab — the whole list, the way she made it, in the order it happened.
Every glass is a twelve-ounce stemless tumbler with a hand-sculpted glass creature fused inside it. Not a printed sticker and not a mold: a second piece of hot glass laid onto the wall while both are still soft, so the two melt into one. There is no seam, so there is nothing that can come apart later.
- Eight glasses, eight designs — no duplicates, the complete collection
- Lead-free borosilicate — the same glass laboratories use. Ice water into a warm glass, hot coffee into a cold one, and nothing happens.
- Built for daily use — 12 oz, 4 inches tall, no stem, heavy in the base on purpose
- Each one boxed in a lined navy box with a numbered card
- Cheaper than eight singles — $189 instead of $272
Made at a torch in a converted bait shed in Stonington, Maine, by Nora Eaton, who has worked glass there since 1979. Arthritis in both hands has ended the fine work. There is no apprentice and no second run.
Dishwasher-safe on the top rack, though Nora would rather you did not. Thirty days to send it back, no explanation needed.
