Linda's Handmade Dog Rug (voluum test)
Handmade in Fredericksburg, Texas
Linda Carson, 69. A lifelong dog lover and mat maker from the Texas Hill Country, she's been making mats by hand since she was eighteen β the way her grandmother taught her. The Six Wiener Dogs design is the one she's made for years β available in two shapes, half-moon or classic rectangular. The workshop closes at the end of July. This is her final collection.
"I never sold a single mat until I was in my sixties. They were always just for the house, for the family, for friends. Now they have to go somewhere β and I'd like them to go to people who'll actually live with them."

Why This Mat
Six Things You Won't Find on a Factory-Made Dog Mat
Every detail below comes out of fifty-one years of making mats the way her grandmother first taught her. Nothing here is an accident.
Worked by Hand β Not a Print
The six dachshunds are worked into the surface itself β colors, little sweaters, and all. They're part of the mat, not a thin graphic heat-pressed on top. Nothing on the surface to peel, crack, or wash away.
Six Little Wiener Dogs in a Row
Six dachshunds march across the half-moon front, each in its own little sweater β mustard-and-red stripes, plum, sage green, red, charcoal, and black. A row of long bois that makes you smile every time you walk past.
Non-Slip Backing
A bonded non-slip underside keeps the mat planted on hardwood, tile, or laminate. No slipping. No curling at the corners after a week. No bunching at the doorway.
Generously Sized β Two Shapes
At roughly 35" Γ 24" (about 89 Γ 61 cm), it's sized for the places people actually live with one β a front entry, a kitchen by the sink, the landing in front of the fireplace, the floor beside the bed. Available in two shapes β half-moon or a classic rectangle β the same generous size in both. Not a tiny doormat.
Machine-Washable on Cool
Built for real life with dogs and boots. It goes through a cool, gentle cycle when the dog tracks half the yard inside β and he will. Lay flat to dry. No tumble drying. Comes out looking like the day it arrived.
Final Collection β Roughly 400 Remaining
Linda closes the workshop at the end of July. The finished mats on her shelves are the last that will ever come out of her workshop. No reorders. No second runs.
β A Letter Linda Keeps in Her Cookie Tin
"Dear Mrs. Carson β I lost my old dachshund, Otto, of fifteen years this spring. I ordered your mat because the little dogs on it looked like every wiener dog I'd ever loved, all in a row. It sits by my front door now. My new pup walks over it like he owns the place. I think he knows. Thank you for making something that holds that much."
A longtime customer, Charleston, SC β one of dozens of handwritten letters Linda keeps in a cookie tin.

A Note From the Workshop
Linda makes every mat by hand, one at a time, in the back room of her home in Fredericksburg, Texas. Because each mat is made by hand, slight variations in color, the position of the dogs, and the texture of the surface are a natural part of how each one comes out. These are not flaws. This is what handmade looks like.
To keep the mat at its best: machine wash on a cool, gentle cycle when needed. Lay flat to dry. Do not tumble dry. Treat it gently and it will outlast most of what you own.
